It has become appallingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity.
That Einstein guy had a point, you know. Biking to and from class today, I believe I saw 60 people walking while talking on their cell phones. And today was a low cell-phone-walkers volume day. People leave class, to get right on the phone. Sometimes I don't even see them talking. They just have their ear up to it, and walk slowly, or sit, or stand in the middle of a walkway. What are they doing? Showing off the phone? They think people impressed by it or something? I'm not. Are there actually people who judge a person by their phones? The person they're talking to, are they going to see them later in the day? Judging by the mundaneness of their convorsation, because they talk so loudly its hard not to hear, they are going to see them in a matter of minutes, and they certainly aren't discussing a place to meet.
So, to the people I almost hit with my bike while going to class, take the phone off your ear. It makes you walk very slowly, and makes you oblivious to everything around you. If the world was ending, you would have no idea. You would know what your best friend ate for lunch that day, because I think that's the deepest the convorsation gets.
Put it in your pocket until you get somewhere where you can use it, and not create a slowly moving obsticle on the sidewalk. Enjoy the day! It's somewhere between 60 and 70. This is as close to a New England Spring transition into Summer feeling that there will be all year. That doesn't require you to wear 6 layers, by the way. (Direct quote that is, from one of the phone talkers.)
Party on...
To clarify a point, I'm talking about people who walk and talk on their phones and are oblivious. A quick conversation where the person is paying attention to their surrounds: fine. An incoming call from someone, cool. Talk on the phone a lot at home, or when you're bored? So do I. It's just the oblivious factor that bugs me.

Secondly, i personally would rather want to know what my best friend had for lunch that day than know that the world was ending.
